About This Document
This page summarizes the informed consent process for clients of A New Day Psychology LLC. A full Informed Consent agreement is reviewed and signed electronically through our HIPAA-compliant client portal prior to your first session.
Nature of Services
Dr. Kylie Pottenger provides licensed clinical psychology services via secure telehealth video sessions. Services include assessment, individual psychotherapy, and evidence-based treatments such as ERP, EMDR, CBT, and I-CBT for conditions including OCD, trauma, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility-related distress, grief, and religious trauma.
Risks and Benefits
Therapy can produce meaningful benefits, including symptom reduction, improved relationships, and greater self-understanding. It can also involve temporary discomfort as difficult feelings or memories are processed. Dr. Pottenger will discuss any significant risks specific to your treatment plan.
Telehealth-Specific Considerations
- You must be physically located in a state where Dr. Pottenger is authorized to practice (Missouri, New Jersey, or a PSYPACT state) at the time of each session.
- You are responsible for ensuring you are in a private, safe space with a reliable internet connection.
- Technology limitations may occasionally disrupt sessions; a backup plan (such as a phone call) will be agreed upon at the outset of care.
Confidentiality and Its Limits
What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law. Important exceptions include suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult; serious threat of harm to self or others; and court orders. The full Notice of Privacy Practices describes how your protected health information is used and disclosed.
Fees and Cancellation
Current fees, accepted insurance, and the cancellation policy are listed on the Finance & Payment page. Fees are agreed to in writing prior to the first session.
Emergencies
Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies. In a crisis, call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
Your Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consent and discontinue services at any time. We encourage discussing any concerns directly so we can support a thoughtful transition.
